BUTTE – A World War II veteran celebrated his birthday in Butte over the weekend after he turned 100 years old Sunday.
Members of Butte’s Marine Corps League popped in on the birthday party for Fred LeBlanc, who served in the 163rd infantry division during the Second World War.
LeBlanc had an emotional celebration with family and friends and gave his secret to living a long life. “Well, be good to everybody, try to be nice and have a shot of booze every once in a while,” said LeBlanc.
LeBlanc served in the New Guinea campaign but says other guys had it tougher than him.
