BUTTE – An incident command post is located approximately 50 miles between the Goldstone fire to its south and the Beaver Creek fire to its north.
LIBBY – There’s been little change for crews battling a trio of wildfires that are burning on the Kootenai National Forest.
LIBBY – The Davis Fire added a couple of hundred acres on Monday and now stands at 6,205 acres since being sparked by lightning on July 29th.
ESSEX – The Paola Ridge fire burning on the Flathead National Forest near Essex has scorched 566 acres and an evacuation warning for some residents remains in place.
GLACIER NATIONAL PARK – The brief rain showers that fell in Glacier National Park on Monday did little to slow the growth of the Howe Ridge fire burning on the west side of Park.
HELENA – Firefighters are transitioning to a mop-up stage for the Shellrock Fire in the Beartooth Wildlife Management Area while containment has reached 50 percent for the 467 Trail Fire southeast of Lincoln.
GLACIER NATIONAL PARK – The lightning-sparked Howe Ridge Fire (Inciweb) in Glacier National Park has burned an estimated 7,835 acres as of Monday morning.
LIBBY – The Davis Fire has now burned a little over 6,000 acres since being sparked by lightning on July 29th.
MISSOULA – After two weeks on the front lines of the biggest fires in California, a team of Montana firefighters is headed home. And they’re bringing back firsthand experience and warnings for us here about using extreme caution to prevent a similar catastrophe.
GREAT FALLS- Justin Bilton and his 70-year old father were backpacking through Wyoming and Montana, and last weekend set up camp in Glacier National Park. The next day, they realized that a lightning strike had started a small fire, which eventually turned into the 3,500-acre Howe Ridge Fire along Lake McDonald.
WEST GLACIER – Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park will be closed for the rest of the season because of the still-burning Howe Ridge fire.
WEST GLACIER – The Howe Ridge fire burning on the west side of Glacier National Park held steady on Thursday and has burned 3,500 acres with 0% containment.
HELENA- Officials on two wildfires burning outside Helena say containment on the fires grew on Thursday.
GREAT FALLS – A 737 jet landed in Great Falls on Thursday afternoon, carrying 100 firefighters from the Eastern U.S.
GREAT FALLS – The lightning-sparked Shellrock Fire, centered about 25 miles north of Helena, has burned an estimated 350 acres as of Thursday morning, and is about 15% contained.
